Ducati domination: Marco Bezzecchi in second place, then Luca Marini
Mugello – An Italian trio, three Ducati and three Italian riders, in a Mugello more tricolor than ever. Fabio Di Giannantonio in his first pole position in MotoGP, Marco Bezzecchi in 2nd place and he too in his debut season, then Luca Marini: they are the fantastic 3 of the Italian GP. The MotoGP qualifications were marked by rain after the summer heat of free practice and the cards on the table suddenly changed. With the slightly wet track and dry tires, heart and courage made the difference. Diggia was in Q1, passed the round with Marquez and threw himself into the decisive Q2. However, they were immediately interrupted after a crash by Marc, in which his Honda had the worst: on fire and broken in two.
Once the track was clean, the MotoGP riders threw themselves into the fray and Fabio at the last minute scored that 1’46 ”156 that gave him pole. “If I had imagined a perfect Saturday, it would have been like this – the Gresini-Fare team driver expressed his joy. my first pole here at Mugello, on the Ducati, in front of the Italian fans, it cannot be sold. I’m more than happy ».
Bezzecchi is also in seventh heaven: «A crazy qualifying, but that’s how it goes at Mugello. I took a risk because I wanted to do a good qualifying, I did it and I’m happy ». For Marini this result is the fruit of his efforts: «I have worked a lot in the last two races, I have understood many things and now my feelings are good. I still lack something to get to the top, but I want to thank all the Italian fans ».
If the front row is from the outsiders, the big names are immediately behind us. If Johann Zarco is 4th, Pecco Bagnaia (and there are 5 Ducatis in the first 5 places) and Fabio Quartararo will start alongside him tomorrow. They are two of the men in the standings (despite the Italian’s delay in terms of points) together with Aleix Espargaró who will open the third row and Enea Bastianini, more in difficulty in difficult conditions and only 10th, behind the Hondas of Nakagami and Pol Espargaró. Marc Marquez will be 11th on the grid (thanks to Martin’s penalty, 14th) ahead of Jack Miller and Michele Pirro. Bad for the other Italians: Aprilia test driver Lorenzo Savadori is 22nd, ahead of Morbidelli, the last Dovizioso.
