It seems that one of the starters on the Belgian team’s bikes caused a rapid fire in the garage number 12 of the Motegi circuit, in the area reserved for the MotoGP teams between the Aprilia and Suzuki work areas, in a garage that is occupied by Marc VDS, the team of the intermediate class.
When some of the materials and carpets used to set up the box caught fire, a large smoke spread over the pit lane, causing an immediate flare-up.
The fire was extinguished by the circuit firefighters without harm to people and the team is still waiting to assess the material damage, although fortunately the rapid intervention of the Motegi facilities and the team staff made it possible to save the bikes. and remove them from the fire area.
In November 2018, MotoGP has already experienced a fire in one of its pits, Suzuki’s in Sepang, where one of its bikes burned at the entrance to the pit lane, fortunately without harm to people.
Another brutal fire, this time without the presence of the World Championship, broke out in 2021 at the Termas circuit in Argentina, and led to major renovations of the Santiago del Estero track.
