The world championship pushes for sustainable GPs: already from 2024 the top class provides at least 40% of petrol of non-fossil origin. The same will happen for Moto2 and Moto3
Green turning point for the world championship. Not for the age of access to motorbike racing, but for the attention to having more and more ecologically sustainable races. MotoGP, in fact, announces that by 2024 the fuel in all classes will be at least 40% of non-fossil origin, a percentage that will rise to 100% by 2027.
individual suppliers
–
MotoGP, therefore, remains the platform on which these fuels will continue to be tested: each manufacturer present in the premier class will work with their supplier to develop their own. The development of multiple fuels will therefore ensure that the technology reaches customers in the motorcycle market and fuel pumps on the roads.
moto2 and moto3
–
The Moto2 and Moto3 classes will continue to have a single fuel supplier and will introduce a partially sustainable fuel in 2024, while in 2027 both categories will switch to 100% sustainable fuel as will also happen for MotoGP.
Viegas and Ezpeleta
–
“I am really proud of this announcement after so many months of negotiations with oil companies and manufacturers – says Jorge Viegas, president of the International Federation -. We have reached an agreement that will allow MotoGP to be the leader in this truly sustainable revolution.” MotoGP it will be a very important actor for climate change and greater sustainability – adds Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna -. Motorcycles are a vital asset for society, sustainable fuels are a key to creating a path towards a more environmentally friendly world and with many different fuel manufacturers committed to this, the global impact is assured “.
