Francesco Bagnaia And Jack Miller finished in fourth and seventh place respectively on Friday of free practice for the Catalonian GP, the ninth round of the 2022 MotoGP season scheduled for this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya. During today’s two free practice sessions, the Ducati Lenovo Team riders worked to test the durability of the different tire options available for the race and improve their sensations on the Desmosedici GPs on the Catalan track, characterized by low-grade asphalt. adherence. In the last minutes of FP2, both Bagnaia and Miller carried out the “time attack” managing to hit the top ten goal. Pecco in fact closed with the fourth time in 1: 39.950, while Jack finished seventh with a time of 1: 40.095, both obtaining provisional access to Q2 which they will have to confirm in the decisive round of FP3 scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9: 55 rooms.
Francesco Bagnaia: “It was not an easy day. The grip level of the asphalt is very low and we are working on this aspect. Although it was warmer in FP2 than this morning, we managed to make some big steps forward and tomorrow morning the asphalt conditions should be better, so I’m confident. FP4 will be essential to understand which tire to use in the race. Now we continue to work in this direction with the aim of taking another step before qualifying“.
Jack Miller: “The track is quite slippery and I especially suffered from the lack of grip on the rear. With the soft tire the problem seems to be more contained, but it will still be important to be able to have a good pace even with the hardest tires for the race. Tomorrow we will have some work to do: we will have to try to get the most out of our package despite the asphalt conditions and improve our pace. As always, the goal will be to get a placement in the first two rows of the starting grid“.
