The MotoGP adventure of the new Yamaha satellite team begins uphill. The team WithU RNF in fact he struggled a lot in the first qualifying session of the new season with both his bikes, ending up occupying the last two rows on the starting grid that will be formed tomorrow before the race on the Qatari track in Lusail. Andrea Dovizioso he will start from 20th place, while the rookie went even worse Darryn Binder, last today at the end of Q1. Certainly not the starting step expected by the veteran from Forlì, who appeared disappointed at the end of this Saturday.
“I am disappointed because today I completely lost the feeling with the bike – explained the former Ducatista at the end of a bitter day – and also for what concerns the conditions of the track. The wind was strong enough, unlike yesterday, only that makes a difference. I was completely losing the feeling, I couldn’t be constant. After all the positive things I had found yesterday, today I was unable to maintain or improve my position on the bike. Tomorrow the track could be in a totally different condition and maybe I can go back to yesterday’s sensations, with the right feeling. Starting 20th is very bad because everyone should manage the tires. Shooting from the bottom is not the best situation “.
Binder was more hopeful, hoping to be able to recover some positions during tomorrow’s race thanks to the pace. “In PL4 my bike stopped on the first lap, which is never a good thing because it disturbed our qualifying plan. My first time in qualifying was a bit crazy – explained Binder again – you have two laps, you go in, change the tires and then you have two more laps. Unfortunately, I didn’t make a great first attempt. Then after I changed the tire I was probably trying to get into turn 2 too hard and without having the tire up to temperature I crashed. I’m disappointed with how qualifying went, but I saw that the pace we did in FP3 was good. I think we will have to pick up from there tomorrow, do the race and see what happens “.
