Gigi Dall'Igna was radiant to say the least after the splendid victory obtained by Francesco Bagnaia at the Spanish Grand Prix at the Angel Nieto in Jerez de la Frontera, topped off with another hat-trick thanks to the second place achieved by an excellent Marc Marquez and the third Marco Bezzecchi.
According to the director of Ducati Corse, this season will be the scene of clashes open to more riders than last season. Not only Ducati, but also Aprilia and KTM have shown – sporadically – that they can worry the Reds.
“We've been seeing a fratricidal fight between Pecco and Martin for a few years now. This year there are more contenders, there are many of them, some even from other brands, so it will be even more difficult. But at the moment we are focused on improving what we can improve on our bike.”
Bagnaia doesn't need further confirmation that he is one of the best riders around. But the investiture of Gigi Dall'Igna is the classic seal that gives even more importance to what the Piedmontese managed to put on track yesterday.

“Pecco probably had one of the best MotoGP races I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of them. In fact, it's probably the best race I've ever seen. He made a braking move with which he passed two on the outside, He responded in an incredible way to Marquez's attack. He managed to set an incredible time at the end of the race with finished tires. He did something, once again, to demonstrate what kind of champion he is. He is a great champion who deserves it the two MotoGP world titles he won.”
“I think the 1'37″4 he did at the end of the race with finished tires really made a real difference. That's what surprised me the most. She cut off Marc's legs and won the race right then and there.”
For Ducati, meanwhile, a very important moment is approaching. The one linked to the drivers market and the choice that Dall'Igna himself will have to make. Bagnaia renewed his contract just a few weeks ago, but it will be necessary to understand if his teammate will remain Enea Bastianini or if, instead, his place will be taken by Jorge Martin or even Marc Marquez. A choice that, to this day, gives shivers to the head of Ducati Corse.
“The sense of responsibility for the future of riders like Bastianini, Martin and Marquez is there. In fact we are trying to give them all the best possible material, all the best possible advice to do very well in these races. It is vital for us as Ducati , but also for them and for their future. Whatever happens, we will have to say no to some important riders. In other words, it will be a decision that… my legs are shaking just thinking about having to make it.”
