The young Ducati rookie finished the Japanese Grand Prix in tenth place, obtaining another good result, crossing the line more than six seconds behind Enea Bastianini and gaining a position following the crash of Pecco Bagnaia on the last lap. in an attempt to overtake Fabio Quartararo.
In the first part of the race Marco Bezzecchi was in the group with Pecco and Enea and he also thought about passing Bagnaia when Bastianini overtook him, but he made his decisions showing cool blood.
“The race was not bad at all considering I mounted the hard rear tire without having tried it before,” explained the VR46 rider.
“The soft would have been too risky a choice. In the warm up I think Luca Marini and Pecco tried the hard, others the soft and me the medium. We came to the conclusion that we should have chosen between the soft and the hard, because the medium they didn’t give me a good feeling, even though Jorge Martin was very fast “, continued Bezzecchi explaining his choice.

“I got off to a good start, but when I got in the wake of Pecco I stayed behind him so as not to risk getting into trouble,” he confessed.
“When the group got together, about ten laps had already passed and the tires were starting to give me problems due to the pressure.”
On the choice of not wanting to attack Bagnaia, Bezzecchi underlined how this decision was completely personal and not imposed by Ducati.
“During the race I thought a lot. Pecco is a good friend of mine and in certain moments I felt I had more pace than him, but I chose to stay behind. It was my choice 100%, none of Ducati, nor Gigi ( Dall’Igna) nor anyone else has told me anything about it “, concluded the rider from Rimini.
