‘Pecco’ Bagnaia he took his third victory of the season in Assen, imposing himself imperiously in the Dutch GP after a dominated race, led from start to finish despite the light drizzle that peeped out on the track during the last few laps. A fundamental result for the world championship dreams of the Ducati Italian, who with this success maximized the number of points recovered on Fabio Quartararo, forced to the first zero of the season after a crash at the start of the race that also involved Aleix Espargarò. Second position for another Ducati, again driven by an Italian rider: the rookie Marco Bezzecchi, on his first podium in the top class. Third place and first podium as an Aprilia rider for Maverick Vinales, arrived immediately in front of Espargarò, able to recover up to fourth place. Simon Crafar interviewed the top three.
Pecco Bagnaia (1st, Ducati): “The race was very very long. The first time I looked at how many laps were missing were 24. So already two laps seemed too many. I am really very happy, after two complicated races in which we had always been competitive but we had not brought home results. Now it’s amazing, I’m really happy. We did an exceptional job, it wasn’t easy because it started raining towards the middle of the race and I got scared. Winning here means that we are really strong ”.
Marco Bezzecchi (2nd, VR46 Ducati): “Honestly, I have no words, it’s fantastic to have made this race possible. We worked very well and the team did something incredible. This achievement is all for them, for my family, for my girlfriend at home and for all my friends who support me. Now I can go on vacation very happy “.
Maverick Vinales (3rd, Aprilia): “It looks like the hard work we’ve done is finally paying off. I pushed hard because I had to come back from a long way back. The bike was fantastic and from race to race it gets better and better. This great team deserves the podium every weekend. I will continue to push hard I want to thank my beautiful family. I can’t wait to go to Silverstone to push some more. Thanks Aprilia! ”.
