While we wait for the official announcement, which will arrive in the next few days, the events that occurred this Friday at Silverstone, where the British Grand Prix is taking place, allow us to conclude that the young and talented rider from Murcia, Fermin Aldeguer, will race with Gresini Racing next season, taking the place that, until the end of the season, will be occupied by the eight-time world champion Marc Márquez.
Just today, Ducati and VR46 officially announced the agreement according to which Valentino Rossi’s team will become the privileged partner of the Italian manufacturer, with a latest-generation bike, the same as that of the official riders and one from the previous year (2024). A few minutes after the announcement, Davide Tardozzi, team manager of the official Ducati team, confirmed on television that Fabio Di Giannantonio will ride the official bike and Franco Morbidelli the previous year’s model, as had been repeatedly stated. However, an official confirmation was expected and Tardozzi did it, arousing the ire of Uccio Salucci.
With this move, Aldeguer, who at the beginning of the year signed a contract with Ducati for promotion to MotoGP in 2025, will end up in the only free place still available among the teams with Bologna bikes, Gresini Racing.
Here, the phenomenon from La Ñora will share the garage in 2025 with Alex Marquez, who recently renewed for two seasons with Gresini, and both will have the Desmosedici GP24 at their disposal. In addition, Aldeguer will inherit a large part of Marc Marquez’s technical team, with Frankie Carchedi, the current race engineer of the #93 and who previously worked for Joan Mir at Suzuki. The rest of the current staff is composed of Filippo Tognoni, chief mechanic; Mattia Sereni, electronics engineer; and mechanics Marco Rosa Gastaldo, Mirco Fiuzzi, David Castañeda and Marco Bonazzi.
The young Spanish talent, who is still fighting for the Moto2 title this season with Luca Boscoscuro’s team, will make his debut at 19 years old on Gresini’s Ducati GP24 on November 19, in the official MotoGP test after the Valencia GP.
