The Sunday of the San Marino Grand Prix opened immediately under the banner of the Italian flag with the success of Dennis Foggia in Moto3. The Capitoline driver in fact got the better of the Spanish duo made up of Jaume Masiá and Izan Guevara, both on the podium in front of Deniz Öncü, author of the pole position but the protagonist of an error during an attempt to overtake Guevara that compromised every possibility to defend leadership.
The four, however, authors of an exciting battle in the final laps, also took advantage of two twists that took place in the initial stages of the race: the first, which occurred during the first lap, resulted in the contact between Carraro and Sasakiwith the fall of both pilots. Three laps later, the now former leader of the general classification, Sergio Garcia, he first touched a rear-end collision with Öncü, only to then fall in the following corners. However, back on track after the mistake, the Iberian driver then suffered a sensational one disqualification on lap 17 for irresponsible driving.

With Masiá 2nd and Guevara 3rd, the podium of the GasGas standard bearer is equivalent to the leadership of the general classification, 11 points behind Garcia and 35 from Foggia, all six races from the end of the championship.
