Determination, awareness and desire to win. Dennis Foggia he has no doubts, success is in his DNA and if bad luck at bay the results on the track will speak for him this season of Moto3. The Roman rider who rides a Honda for the Leopard Racing Team has cleared his mind after the double retirement in Mugello and Spain and is now preparing the second part of the championship with the aim of starting to grind points again in a ranking that sees him first among the Italians, in fourth place overall with 95 points behind the Spanish trio made up of Garcia Dols, Guevara and Masia. A few days from the Sachsenring raceDennis Foggia was the protagonist of an exclusive interview for FormulaPassion during which he talked about how he is living this season in Moto3.
Two retirements in the last two races, one 0 that leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Ready to go?
“Absolutely. We are very sorry because bad luck has hindered us both in Italy and in Spain. At Mugello we were very competitive all weekend, I crashed and we didn’t get what we hoped for. The weekend was going great and even in the race I had a great pace, I was gone and so it could have been 99% a win. I took pole in Barcelona, I was in the leading group, they were preparing me to push with the hard tire but after 5 laps the crown broke and so I didn’t finish the race. It had never happened to me, we could have won both races. “
After a short break, run to Germany. Ready to redeem?
“I am always positive enough and motivated to do well. We will go out on the track to get the most out of it. We have been working well since the beginning of the season and the results will come. I really like the Sachsenring circuit, last year I also went to the podium. The feeling is more than positive and there are all the conditions to do well. “
Last year you finished in second place, are you aiming for the title this year?
“The goal is to win. We always aim to make the podium in all races and from now to the end of the season it will be essential to try to conquer the final success. To do this we will have to try not to collect other withdrawals. I certainly can’t check for breakdowns or technical problems and obviously I focus on what I can do but I am determined to fight until the end for the title. “
Winning would be a good business card for Moto2.
“I am already ready to jump, I was also last year, We are already talking with 3-4 teams, we will see in the coming months with whom the agreement will materialize. Now I am focused on this year, however, because we are not reaping the fruits we deserve, with a little luck we would be talking about another championship. “
In the middle of the season, how do you judge your path?
“I am happy with what I have done, also with the step of growth in comparison with last year. I’m sorry because I’m working hard, we had a great start to the season in the first races: seventh in Qatar, first in Indonesia. Things have changed when we return to Europe, we fight with the KTMs which are very fit, we can play it up to the end with them. “
The future will be MotoGP, how do you judge the fight for the title?
“Quartararo is very competitive. I don’t want to make any predictions but I think he is the favorite. I aim one day to arrive in the premier class and leave a mark. “
Who are you inspired by? Who is Dennis Foggia off the slopes?
“I don’t have a particular idol, I am inspired by many MotoGP riders trying to capture their strong point. I am a very determined guy, I take care of every aspect, from nutrition to training. After a disappointment I try to analyze what has been done, I try to give myself the answers on errors or problems. Then I clear my mind and leave. I often ride my motorbike for pleasure too, I like cars and I started playing padel. “
