Tony Arbolino and Marc VDS. The wedding was celebrated in the late morning of today, with the team that released the official statement with which it revealed the engagement of the Italian driver starting from next season.
The 21-year-old has signed a two-year contract with Marc VDS after spending 4 years in Moto3. In the starting class, which should then lead a rider to Moto2 and MotoGP, Arbolino signed 6 pole positions, 3 wins and 12 podiums.
In 2020 he came close to the title, hitting the second position just 4 points behind the world champion in the category Albert Arenas. This season the Milanese driver is racing with the Intact team, with whom he has achieved 2 good results in Qatar and Le Mans.
Arbolino will replace Augusto Fernandez. In fact, remember that the Spanish rider has signed a contract with KTM for next season, so he will race in MotoGP.
Arbolino ends up in an absolute leading team in the category, having recently won numerous titles with Tito Rabat, Franco Morbidelli and Alex Marquez.
“I am really happy to be part of this project,” said Arbolino. “I think it is a great opportunity for me to improve and take a step forward in my career.”
“I chose this team scientifically because I think it is one of the best in Moto2 and the feeling I had with them was immediate. We liked each other immediately and for me this is very important. I need such a change and I am proud that Marc van der Straten and his team believed in me. “
Marc van der Straten, owner of the team, added: “It is a great pleasure for me to welcome a young talent of the caliber of Arbolino. We are very motivated to accompany him in his growth and we hope to achieve many successes together. We know who has great potential to be ahead and beat the opponents. “
