Rain was the real protagonist of these first two days of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, but several penalties also rained in Moto2 following the qualifying staged yesterday at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The qualifying session was characterized by numerous crashes, some of which led the Race Direction to take measures.
The first to pay is Simone Corsi, who broke the rules during Q1. The MV Agusta standard bearer crashed at Turn 15, despite the fact that the yellow flags were displayed at that point due to a crash that occurred shortly before. The Race Direction has decided to sanction the Roman driver, who has not respected the yellow flags by proceeding too fast and runs into a Long Lap Penalty.
Same fate for Jake Dixon, guilty of the same infringement by Corsi. The Petronas team driver also crashed at Turn 15 under yellow flags. Proceeding too fast despite the exposure of the flags imposed a slowdown, the British put at risk the safety of the other drivers on the track. Dixon will also have to serve a penalty and will do so in the race with a Long Lap Penalty.
Finally, Augusto Fernandez is also sanctioned. The Spaniard proceeded too slowly in the trajectory during Q2, obviously prohibited by the regulation. At Turn 14, the Marc VDS team driver got in the way of the others who were making their fastest lap, putting safety on the track at risk. The Race Direction has decided to impose a Long Lap Penalty also to Augusto Fernandez.
