It was a real one survival race the Moto2 qualifying session in the Emilia Romagna and Made in Italy Grand Prix. Between Q1 and Q2 a total of 20 crashes were touched, one of these particularly dangerous and the probable penalty coming for Jake Dixon. The Petronas driver crashed at Misano-1 a few seconds after box mate Xavi Vierge crashed in the same spot. The yellow flag had been displayed and the commissioners were already at work on the escape route to rescue the Spaniard and remove Kalex # 97. Dixon’s bike risked hitting the commissioners who fortunately were not hit.

Complicated session for Raul Fernandez, who chases box mate Remy Gardner at -9. The Spaniard crashed at the Variante del Parco and had to settle for tenth position, the championship leader, however, did not go beyond the 14th time trial and therefore will have to chase Fernandez tomorrow in the race. The pole position was signed by Sam Lowes in 1’36 ″ 510, front row for Jorge Navarro and Augusto Fernandez, then Aron Canet ahead of Celestino Vietti, fifth and best Italian driver at the start tomorrow (Bezzecchi, Arbolino, Manzi, Casadei and Baldassarri all crashed). Completing the top-10 Marcos Ramirez, Stefano Manzi – despite the crash – Thomas Luthi, Albert Arenas and Raul Fernandez.
