We can say that we have been waiting for the Moto Edge S for weeks, but in reality it is more correct to say that we have been waiting for the Motorola Nio for months. And it is that, as its official launch approaches, confirmed by Motorola for next January 26, it is increasingly clear to us that the project we have been hearing about for a long time, codenamed Nio, It is the high-end (or medium-high, according to the criteria of each one) that the Lenovo firm will present within two days.
Be that as it may, let’s call it Moto Edge S or Motorola Nio (Unless Motorola surprises us further with a smartphone similar to the Edge S but with a Snapdragon 865), as its presentation approaches, it happens, as usual, that new and interesting leaks are produced that help us to know better what is to come. As a general rule, they are usually in the form of data but, sometimes, what is made public is a real image or video of the device in operation, and that is precisely this case.
And it is that the leaker Ankit has published on your Twitter account several images, one, in a first tweet, of what it would be an official Motorola design of promotional material Moto Edge S, and two smartphone photos in a second message posted in response to the first. Of these it stands out, without a doubt, that finally Motorola would have ruled out the use of a curved screen, an element that for many users has not finished working on the Edge and Edge +.
We also see that the Moto Edge S lwill bequeath, at least, in two colors. The white version that we had previously seen and a blue one that, at least in the promotional image, is quite reminiscent of the wallpaper shown in the same image. In addition, one of the leaked photographs confirms that the back of the smartphone has a square protrusion in which we find the elements that make up the main camera. More striking is the front, since in the promotional image no perforation is appreciated, but in one of the photographs there appear to be two in the upper left corner.
Moto Edge S: possible specifications
Given that, almost certainly, The Moto Edge S is the expected Motorola Nio, we can rely on the leaks of it to try to determine the technical specifications of this new smartphone We are talking about a medium-high range (with more shades of the latter) with 8 gigs of RAM and 128 gigs of storage and a hypothetical variant with 12 gigs of RAM and 256 gigs of memory. Would have a 6.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,520 points and a refresh rate that would not drop below 90 hertz and could reach 105. All of this would be powered by a 5,000 milliamp battery, a capacity Motorola seems to be quite comfortable with.
Regarding its cameras, the main one of the Moto Edge S would be formed by three sensors, a sensor 64 megapixel OmniVision OV64B, a OmniVision OV16A10 16MP wide angle and a OmniVision OV02B1B 2MP depth module. The front camera, according to the filtered image, would appear through perforations in the upper left corner of the screen and would be composed of two optical bodies, a 16MP OmniVision OV16A1Q with Wide Angle Lens and a 8MP Samsung S54H7 with Ultra Wide Angle Lens.
Next Tuesday, January 26 We will know if, finally, the Moto Edge S has one or two perforations on the screen, and we can confirm if the technical specifications that have been drawn from various leaks are the real ones. And, although it surely does not happen, it would be a detail to appreciate if the company confirmed that, finally, we can give a definitive name to the Motorola Nio.
