Deveca Rose: she left her 4 children alone to go shopping
According to what emerged from the reconstructions of the tragic episode carried out by the prosecutor Kate Lumsdon the victims of the fire, two pairs of twins aged 3 and 4, died surrounded by waste and excrement.
It was 6.30pm on December 16, 2021, when Deveca Rosa left her children alone at home. The woman had gone shopping at a chain store Sainsbury’svery well known in the UK. During his absence, a flared up terrible fire in the apartment. The neighbors, realizing that the house was on fire, tried to force the door but it was locked.
One of the witnesses said: “A neighbor then managed to kick in the door, but the fire had caught on to the point where it was impossible to get in.”.
The arrival of help
Once the alarm was raised, several fire brigade teams promptly arrived on the scene. Although they managed to pull the twins out of the hell of those flames and tried to resuscitate them, there was nothing that could be done for the little ones. Children have indeed been declared dead shortly after their arrival at the hospital.
Deveca was arrested that same day while in hospital and allegedly told police officers: “My children just died and they are arresting me”. The mother tried to exonerate herself by reporting that she had left the children alone a friend named Jadebut based on subsequent investigations, no clear presence of the aforementioned friend emerged at the time of the tragedy.
The three children were already known to social services, even though their case had been closed three months before the tragic event. Deveca Rose had previously expressed to Times all her anguish in having to raise and look after her children completely alone:
“Bryson, Kyson, Logan and Leyton were my boys, they were my children, they were my life, they were my world. They were my heart, they were my soul, they were everything. It’s all so surreal.”
