Mazatlan.- One 3-month-old little girl and her mother suffered severe burns in an accident at homeand are being treated at the General Hospital.
The Shriners Culiacán AC Philanthropy Foundation is already intervening to try to take the baby to a Shriners Hospital, in Sacramento, California, United States, so that she can receive comprehensive care and can grow without the marks of the burns.
Those who suffered this strong accident over the weekend are Mayra Lizeth Hernández Lerma and her little girl, Renata Ruiz Hernández; apparently there was an explosion due to accumulation of gas in his home, in La Amapa, municipality of Rosario.
They suffered second-degree burns: the girl in 10 percent of her body, especially her face, scalp and hands, and her mother in 30 to 40 percent of her body, especially her face, chest and arms. At the time of the explosion, the lady had her baby in her arms, which is why both were burned, she explained.
Mom and daughter were taken to the Mazatlán General Hospital to be served; relatives ask for help through social networks to pay for hospital and medication expenses.
Help from Shriners
Jorge León Aragón, president of Club Shriners Culiacán AC, narrated by telephone that he learned of this case on Sunday and went with the family to the Mazatlan General Hospital. He also attended this Monday.
There he offered them the help of the Shriners Philanthropy Foundation, which would benefit little Renata.
Shriners supports, free of charge, infants, children, and adolescents under the age of 18 who have suffered serious burns.
Little Renata can be taken to Sacramento (accompanied by a family member), so that she can receive first-class medical attention, which reduces the burns and other effects suffered as much as possible.
The little girl’s father commented that the girl is not yet registered, but this Tuesday a civil judge is expected to visit the General Hospital to register her.
“All this depends on the father…, I asked them (the family) to collect the documentation, to be able to take the girl to Sacramento,” said León Aragón.
He added that he will go this Tuesday to follow up on the case, waiting for the father to authorize the little girl to be taken to the Shriners Hospital in Sacramento, California, perhaps accompanied by her grandmother.
The girl’s mother, being over 18 years old, does not reach the benefits of the program, León Aragón clarified, but her daughter is able to access the benefits at no cost to her family, and be able to grow up without the marks of the Burns.
