Ciudad Juarez.- A control judge ordered preventive detention for a mother and son who participated in telephone fraud, the State Prosecutor’s Office reported.
Elements of the Specialized Unit for Extortion Crimes, of the Prosecutor’s Office for Strategic Operations, fulfilled yesterday Wednesday in Ciudad Juárez, an arrest warrant for the crime of fraud, against Adriana María PM, and Iván Giovani BP
Today, September 19, the charges were brought before a Control Judge, with the defendants requesting a duplication of the constitutional term for their legal situation to be resolved. The Judge set the hearing for their arraignment for next Monday, September 23.
At the same initial hearing, the imposition of the precautionary measure was discussed, with the Control Judge imposing preventive detention for a period of eight months.
Within the ministerial investigation, it was established that on June 27, 2023, through the “employee fraud” modality, the defendants managed to get the domestic employee to deliver a suitcase with gold jewelry and cash, which amount to $419,922.00 pesos.
The commission of the crime began with a phone call to the landline of the house where the worker worked, by a person who said he was the victim’s “lawyer,” who supposedly “needed her to do him a favor urgently,” thus managing to trick the employee into handing over the suitcase containing the money and jewelry.
