A senseless act of violence has shaken the community of North Olmsted, Ohio, when a A 3-year-old boy and his mother were stabbed by a woman who followed them when they were grocery shopping.
The event took place around 3:00 pm on Monday, June 3, when mother and son were leaving the Giant Eagle grocery storelocated approximately 20 miles southwest of Cleveland.
According to North Olmsted Police Detective Sergeant Matt Beck, the alleged perpetrator of the attack, identified as Bionca Ellis, 32, of Cleveland, purchased a kitchen knife at a Volunteers of America thrift store before heading to the supermarket.
Images from security cameras in the area revealed that Ellis followed the victim, Margot Wood, and her son from inside the establishment to the parking lot.where the fatal attack occurred.
Despite the authorities’ efforts to save the mother and child, the latter succumbed to the injuries inflicted. He little boy was stabbed in the face and back while in the front seat of the shopping cart, while his mother suffered a shoulder injury.
What motivated the attack?
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear. It has not been determined how Ellis obtained the knife or what his motivation was for committing the crime..
