The City Council is undertaking a profound remodeling of the Palacio de los Deportes on the occasion of the celebration in Murcia of the Endesa Basketball Super Cup, which will take place in the city on September 16 and 17 and which will bring together Real Madrid, FC Barcelona , Unicaja Malaga and UCAM Murcia.
The municipal action has not only consisted of improving the changing rooms, the reform of the sports court, the renovation of the public address system, the installation of a video scoreboard and the adaptation of the urban environment, but also the installation has been completely modernized from from a technological and lighting point of view, with the aim of turning it into a 21st century sports venue, prepared to host more events of this type.
Thus, the Department of Urban Development and Smart City, in collaboration with the Department of Sports, has modernized the entire communications infrastructure of the Palacio de los Deportes, not only to support this ACB competition, but also to provide permanent access to the state-of-the-art sports hall. The entire lighting system, which had not been modified since the inauguration of the Palace in 1994, has also been renewed. Likewise, new signage is being installed
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, visited the Palacio de los Deportes today accompanied by the deputy mayor José Guillén and the councilor for Sports, Miguel Ángel Noguera, with the aim of supervising the start of the infrastructure renovation works communication and lighting system, which will be completed by the end of the week.
“The activity in the Palace is incessant, there is a real invasion of technicians from all specialties who are, at this moment, working so that this Palace of Sports makes the definitive leap into the 21st century”, declared the mayor, who has advanced that this Wednesday the installation of the modern video scoreboard will begin.
The technological renovation consists of the installation of more than two kilometers of fiber optic hose, with a total of 104 links; 6,000 meters of structured cabling to guarantee the optimization of internal communications; 8 communications cabinets, 36 Wi-Fi Ap connections and 40 network points distributed in strategic areas of the Palace to ensure complete and efficient coverage; as well as 11 reception points and 3 real-time 4k video transmitters that promise high-quality image transmission without latency.
