The Moscow authorities will continue to experiment with creating smart homes in Moscow using the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Such a scenario of the future in a conversation with “Lenta.ru” within the framework of the “CyberReality” project was predicted by the General Director of the Moscow Innovation Agency Alexei Parabuchev.
“IoT technologies make it possible to manage the city more efficiently based on data collected in real time,” Parabuchev said. “In an urban environment, the Internet of Things is most often used for organizing video surveillance systems, monitoring urban transport and environmental conditions, as well as intelligent management of communal infrastructure.”
Parabuchev noted that an intelligent video surveillance system is also actively developing in the region, in which, in addition to IoT, computer vision technologies are integrated. With their help, you can calculate violators, monitor security, as well as the quality of the maintenance of streets and courtyards.
“In Moscow, smart home systems and services are gaining popularity, while their scale is expanding: from a smart apartment to a smart building and even to an entire block. Moscow already has a pilot smart quarter in Maryino, which unites seven apartment buildings, two schools and a kindergarten. The buildings are equipped with smart meters for heat, water and electricity, lamps that react to movement, a smart access control system, and in the courtyard there are containers for separate waste collection with occupancy sensors and filling stations for electric cars, ”the head of the Moscow Agency for Innovations gives an example.
According to Parabuchev, for a comprehensive deployment of IoT technologies in Moscow, it is necessary to increase the number of sensors and sensors, as well as standardize data transfer protocols. This will make it possible, for example, in the event of a fire signal being received, to simultaneously warn the residents, the management company, and the emergency response services.
The Internet of Things is a concept of using smart objects equipped with technologies to interact with each other and capable of performing some operations without human intervention. An example of using the Internet of Things is a smart home, that is, a room with automated lighting, heating, air conditioning, security, video surveillance systems. Smart home appliances can be integrated into the system – for example, refrigerators that can monitor their health, and kettles that can be started from a smartphone.
The CyberReality project is dedicated to how high technologies are changing the lives of Russians and humanity in general. He talks about how developments that seemed fantastic just a few years ago are now providing safety, helping in everyday life, saving lives, expanding the horizons of people with disabilities and caring for the elderly.
