Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak warned about the possibility of Moscow introducing mirror measures after the ban on Nord Stream 2, writes RIA News.
According to Novak, the Russian Federation has the right to ban the pumping of gas through Nord Stream 1, but has not yet done so. “No one will benefit from this. Although European politicians are pushing us to this with their statements and accusations against Russia,” he said.
On February 22, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz instructed to stop the certification of Nord Stream 2. He asked the Federal Ministry of Economics to revoke the report on energy security from the Federal Grid Agency, which is necessary to block the approval of the Russian project. On February 21, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the need to completely stop Nord Stream 2.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation to protect Donbass. Most Western countries have responded to Russia’s actions in Ukraine with harsh sanctions.
