The plane of tRussian military transport Il-112V crashed this Tuesday during a test flight with three crew on board, one of them the pilot and hero of Russia, Nikolai Kuimov, reported official sources.
The accident, according to a statement from the State Aeronautical Corporation, took place near the Kúbinka airfield, on the outskirts of Moscow.
“The details are being clarified”, says the note.
The state corporation also reported the creation of a special commission to investigate the event in which, according to preliminary data, the three occupants of the aircraft died.
Investigators consider the fire in the right engine of the Il-112V as the main cause of the accident, as can be seen in a video of the accident published on the internet.
The IL-112V turboprop in test was designed for the transport and landing of troops and loads of up to five tons.
The aircraft has to replace the AN-26 model, which will be withdrawn from the aeronautical park.
The new aircraft has a flight range with maximum load of up to 1,200 km and can develop a maximum speed of 550 km / h.
