Mortal Kombat is about to turn 30, with Ed Boon who for the occasion wanted to remember, through a video, the background of the birth of an iconic move of the series, taking up a movie used for the digitization of the characters of the first chapter.
The thirtieth anniversary will be completed in 2022, but the creator of the series wanted to remember that the whole working process had started before, so it is 2021 that constitutes the anniversary of Mortal Kombat for developers. To celebrate this milestone, Ed Boon therefore shared an interesting background: this is the original movie shot at the time of the first chapter to build the character of Scorpion and in particular the birth of the rope-harpoon move with the mythical exclamation “Get over here!”
It is not the first time that we have seen such documents: the films used for the original animations had already emerged last year, but it is always a pleasure to review these truly precious documents on the development of what has become a myth in the videogame field. .
In the video we see some footage used for the animations of Scorpion, which were digitized starting from a real model, with the real birth of the iconic shot of the character, which is actually improvised during the recording session, based on what we can see.
Thirty years later, Mortal Kombat is the best-selling fighting game series, as announced by Warner Bros. along with the achievement of 12 million copies for Mortal Kombat 11.
