The wrestling series is approaching its 30th anniversary and is more alive than ever outside and within the industry.
Warner Bros. Games today announced that Mortal Kombat 11 has already sold more than 12 million units since its launch in March 2019 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, releasing a few months ago through MK 11 Ultimate on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S. In addition, the Burbank company has placed the number of games sold in the series at 73 million since its first installment released in 1992.

The good news for the saga does not end there. Warner Bros. Games has also confirmed that Mortal Kombat for mobile has been installed 138 million times, currently having a community of players in the millions.

These data of success coincide with the recent new foray of the series in cinema, with a Mortal Kombat movie that has raised $ 83 million counting on a powerful simultaneous premiere, exclusively for the United States, on HBO Max. In addition, in a few weeks Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms, the second in the universe of animated films of the series, will be released.
As for future installments of the franchise, there is nothing clear at the moment, beyond the announcement by NetherRealm Studios to stop creating content for MK 11 to focus on a new and mysterious project of which no clues have been given.
