Previews about the second extra content pack for Mortal Kombat 1 are starting to leak out. Some leaks have suggested the possible introduction of Ghostface, the famous villain from the Scream film series, as a playable character in the near future. The leak comes from Interloko, a well-known Mortal Kombat data miner. In a recently released video, you can hear Mileena, one of the game’s main characters, as she recites the characters’ names as an announcer. During the video, among the various names mentioned, that of Ghostface stands out. It is important to underline that Ghostface has not yet been officially announced: at the moment there is still one character left to complete the first pack of extra content, and we already know that it is Takahashi Takeda.
Ghostface is the main antagonist of the Scream saga. As the name suggests, the character wears a ghost mask and uses a huge knife to brutally kill his victims. What makes Ghostface unique is that it is never the same person: in each film, one or more new villains take on the role of the killer. It can therefore be hypothesized that many of Ghostface’s moves and fatalities in the game will focus on the use of the knife and his multiple identity. Mortal Kombat has a long tradition of characters from other narrative universes: only recently have characters such as DC’s Peacemaker, Omni-Man from The Invincible and, more recently, Homelander from The Boys series been introduced.
