NetherRealm continues to expand the content of Mortal Kombat 1 and it seems that one of the next ones coming is a “new version” of Scorpion. The well-known character from the saga will have a costume that is based on the Mortal Kombat movie from 1995.
The information was shared officially by Ed Boon, director of Mortal Kombat 1, via Twitter. The creator shared several tweets, presenting the news. In the one below, for example, Boon jokingly signals that if the image gets zero retweets and zero likes, he will post another image.
In other tweets, Boon notes that it’s “awesome when Mortal Kombat fans love nostalgic costumes“. He later stated, again jokingly, that he doesn’t want people to share on Twitter, on ResetEra or make a YouTube video about the news, because it all has to remain a secret (or sekreto, if you want to stay on topic with the language used in Mortal Kombat).
Unfortunately for the moment though we have no details on when we will actually be able to have access to the new costume. It’s also assumed that this won’t be the only “nostalgic” skin coming to Mortal Kombat 1.
We would also like to point out that among the new releases arriving there are Patriota (scheduled for spring), Mavado (Kameo in May) and Ferra (undated).
The 1995 Mortal Kombat movie
The 1995 Mortal Kombat film is directed by Paul WS Anderson (Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Death Race) and is based on the video game series, staging an interdimensional martial arts tournament organized by the Elder Gods.
In the film we see Scorpion, but also Liu Kang, Shang Tsung, Lord Raiden, Johnny Cage, Kitana, Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero and many other historical characters. There are therefore many costumes that could arrive in Mortal Kombat 1.
At the time, the Mortal Kombat film became the highest-earning film in the “video game adaptations” category, before being surpassed by the 1998 Pokémon film.
Still speaking of the game, however, we would like to point out that secret Brutalities have been discovered for all the characters.
