This agreement confirms the commitment of the Economic Community of West African States and all the countries that the gas pipeline will cross to contribute to the embodiment of this important project, which, once completed, will provide gas to all West African countries, and will also provide a new export route to Europe.
The Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline strategic project will extend along the coast of West Africa from Nigeria through Benin, Togo, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, Senegal and Mauritania to Morocco.
It will be linked to the Maghreb-European gas pipeline and the European gas network, and will also allow supplying the countries of Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali that are not bordering the sea.
This strategic project will contribute to improving the standard of living of the population, as well as integrating the economies of the region and alleviating desertification thanks to a sustainable and efficient supply of gas.
This project will also have significant economic impacts on the region, through the exploitation of clean energy that respects the continent’s new commitments related to environmental protection.
