In plenary, Morena deputies endorsed the profiles for the presidencies of five legislative commissions that they plan to retain.
These are the Southern Border Affairs, Energy, Jurisdictional, Equality and Human Rights commissions, which were already in the hands of the majority bench since the last Legislature.
These are added to the six that were approved yesterday, with which Morena has already defined 11 of the 26 commissions that it will have to preside over. The Southern Border Affairs Commission will be chaired by Tey Mollinedo, former Mayor of Teapa, Tabasco, and niece of Nicolás Mollinedo Bastar, “Nico”, who was the driver of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
In the Energy Commission, Morena endorsed Rocío Abreu, former local representative of Campeche for the PRI and senator for Morena in the last Legislature.
The Jurisdictional Commission, the legislative body responsible for carrying out the impeachment procedure for public servants, will be chaired by Hugo Eric Flores, founder and former president of the political parties Encuentro Social and Encuentro Solidario, both of which lost their registration. In the Equality Commission, Morena’s bet is Anais Miriam Burgos, former Secretary of Education of Mexico City and former advisor to the General Directorate of the Metro Collective Transportation System. While for the Human Rights Commission the proposal is Yoloczin Domínguez Serna, lawyer, former deputy in the Congress of Guerrero and former Morena candidate for Mayor of Acapulco. According to the coordinator of the bench, Ricardo Monreal, the profiles were unanimously endorsed. “Today, unanimously, in the Chamber of @Mx_Deputies we approve the presidencies of the Energy, Jurisdictional, Southern Border, Human Rights and Equity and Gender commissions. I thank my colleagues for their commitment and willingness,” he posted.
