More than five years after their last visit to the Region of Murcia, Les Luthiers return to the stage of the Víctor Villegas Auditorium. His show ‘Old Laughing Stock’ makes a fun compilation of his best-known and acclaimed works (‘Who Killed Tom McCoffee’, ‘Praises the Bathroom’, or ‘Las Majas de Brig’), together with pieces never before performed in Murcian stages, such as ‘Receta Postrera’, a culinary waltz performed with pots and pans.

The group of Argentine musicians-actors-humorists already carries fifty years of talent behind them since they were born in 1967 at a university choir festival. Since then they have received distinctions such as the Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities in 2017, for being a “critical mirror and a benchmark of freedom in contemporary society”.
From a university choir festival in Argentina to winning the Princess of Asturias Award on its 50th anniversary
Roberto Antier, Carlos López, Jorge Maronna, Tomás Mayer-Wolf, Martín O’Connor and Horacio Tato Turano make a double stop this Friday and Saturday at the Sala Narciso Yepes with two of their last performances of the tour. There will be no lack of humor and music in their show, where they use instruments made by themselves with materials from everyday life, displaying the name that their group bears.
With originality, skill and surprise as their flag, Les Luthiers are the creators of surreal string, percussion, wind and electronic instruments. From experience they know that the public gets excited when they appear on stage with their electric chair, the mandocleta (made with a bicycle), the tin viola, the bolarmonio (made with balls), the chamber bagpipe (with a wheel), the coconut marimba or the tamburete.
Hand in hand with the absurd and laughing above all at themselves, Argentines have managed to create an almost indefinable humor, but enormously effective, endorsed by millions of laughs in theaters around the world. Perhaps it is because they go beyond the obvious, because they appeal to skilful socio-cultural criticism, or because they are authors of their own music and text. What is certain is that they hold the title of kings of the humorous musical show.
