However, in the answers to the aforementioned question, it is observed that a high number of citizens (33.2% in Murcia and 40.9% in Cartagena) do not opt for any of those responsible for the five parties in contention in the Region. of Murcia: PP, PSOE, Vox, Ciudadanos and Podemos. This last piece of information constitutes a clear sign that the disaffection with the political class that the different demographic studies have detected in society for years persists.
The answers ‘none of them’ to the question of who would be the best president reveal political disaffection
Men and women
The perception of Fernando López Miras as the best possible president among the regional leaders predominates in most age segments. But in the case of Murcia, he is older among those under 30 years of age and younger among those over 65. In Cartagena it is the other way around. In both cities, he is held in higher regard by women than by men.
After López Miras, in second place in the mentions as the best possible president is the delegate of the Government and general secretary of the PSRM, José Vélez, who will be the head of the socialists in the regional elections of May 2023. However, , the distance with the leader of the PP is considerable. Only 10.4% of respondents in Murcia identify him as the most suitable to lead the Community after next year’s elections, while in Cartagena this percentage rises to 14.8%. It is more appreciated among citizens over 65 years of age, both in the municipality of Murcia and Cartagena. Murcians under 30 see him more as president than Cartagena.
The person in charge of the PP in the Region obtains a positive perception among the young people of Murcia and the older ones of Cartagena
In third position is María Marín, until yesterday spokesperson for Podemos in the Regional Assembly (she is harmed by the reorganization of the Mixed Parliamentary Group, after the entry of four deputies from Vox) and a candidate for the primaries to be ‘number one’ of the purple formation in the regional elections. In Murcia, 5.3% of the answers to the question of who would be the best president contained her name. In Cartagena, where María Marín comes from, the percentage was 5.7%.
José Ángel Antelo, president of Vox in the Region of Murcia, has also not been named a candidate from Santiago Abascal’s party for the presidency of the Autonomous Community. 4.9% of Murcians and 4.8% of Cartagenans would consider him the best president for the Region of Murcia, according to the results of the Sigma Dos survey for LA VERDAD. He has better consideration among men.
Nor is it confirmed that the regional coordinator of Ciudadanos, María José Ros Olivo, will head the orange party poster – in the process of being refounded – in the elections for the Regional Assembly. The percentage of respondents who point to the leader of Cs as the most suitable to be president of the Community is just as meager in Murcia and Cartagena. 2.4% in both cities.
Half of PSOE voters do not point to José Vélez as the most suitable
More than half of those surveyed who remembered having voted for the PSOE in 2019, both in Murcia and Cartagena, did not point to the PSRM-PSOE candidate, José Vélez, as the best possible president for the Community. In the regional capital, 51.2% of socialist voters opted for other options when they had to answer the question of who of the regional leaders would be the most suitable to preside over the regional government. Of these, almost 30% did not point to any other leader. Likewise, six out of ten socialist voters in Cartagena did not point to José Vélez as the most suitable politician to lead the designs of the Region in 2023.
