Brazil has 12 million unemployed, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Even with the lack of job opportunities, many workers are resigning.
In March, out of 1.8 million dismissals, 603 thousand were voluntary, representing 33.2 of the total. It is the highest number of layoffs on request in a single month since January 2020, when almost 370,000 resignation requests were registered.
In February, a previous record, there were 560,272 voluntary dismissals, out of a total of 1,684,636, which is also equivalent to 33.2%. The data are based on the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Caged) and collected by LCA Consultores, informs the g1.

In the comparison between March 2021 and March this year, the increase in layoffs was 38%. Between February of last year and February of this year the increase was 24%. The accommodation and food sectors were the ones that registered the most resignations in March.
In the sectors of Administrative Activities; Information and Communication; and Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities, many resignations were from more qualified professionals and from more heated sectors, such as Information Technology.
A LinkedIn survey shows that 49% of respondents want to change jobs in 2022, especially 16-24 year olds (61%). THE search for better salaries and the desire for a better balance between personal and professional life are the main reasons.
