The exams, held on the UCAM campus, have started this Saturday. 1,108 men and 431 women present themselves to the tests
A total of 1,539 applicants, of whom 1,108 are men and 431 are women, will undergo this weekend in Murcia the opposition exam to get one of the 1,671 places offered on the scale of corporals and guards of the Civil Guard throughout the national territory.
Specifically, the venue for the test in the Region is the San Antonio Catholic University (UCAM), according to sources from the Benemérita in a statement.
The number of applicants from all over the country amounts to 25,987 people, 7,620 women, that is, 29.3%, the highest figure in the historical series.
Regarding the level of training, a total of 6,087 university graduates stand out, among which there are 1,554 with a master’s degree and 18 with a doctorate. By age range, half of the applicants are between 23 and 30 years old, leaving the average age of applicants at 28 years.
The opposition phase is divided into four tests: knowledge, physical, personal interview and medical examination. For the knowledge exam, the Civil Guard has established 19 offices, located in 13 autonomous communities distributed in Alicante, Baeza, Cádiz, Calatayud, Gijón, Granada, Gran Canaria, León, Logroño, Madrid, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, Mérida, Murcia, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Seville, Toledo, Valencia and Vigo.
Previously, the first phase, the competition phase, has been carried out, in which the merits that each opponent adds to the minimum requirements to be able to participate in these selective tests have been evaluated. Being between 18 and 40 years old, Spanish nationality, having no criminal record or having at least a high school diploma are some of the necessary requirements.
The test practiced this Saturday and Sunday consists of carrying out a series of tests on general theoretical knowledge, languages, spelling and psychotechnics. This year and as a novelty, it will be the first time that a grammar test is carried out.
Opponents who obtain a sufficient score in this knowledge test will be summoned for the physical tests: a speed test (60 meter race), an endurance test (2 kilometer distance race), a strength test consisting of performing of a certain number of push-ups according to gender and a 50-meter swimming test.
Those who pass these last tests will undergo a personal interview to assess their mental suitability for the job they are applying for and finally a medical examination to assess their state of health and physical fitness.
Applicants who complete the competitive examination will join the Baeza Guards Academy (Jaén) and the ‘Duque de Ahumada’ Young Guards College in Valdemoro (Madrid), where they will receive professional training during an academic year.
