The Cartagena City Council will invest more than 330,000 euros next year in works in the two municipal markets. Specifically, there will be 315,000 euros for the arrangements of the last island of posts to be renewed in Santa Florentina. With this investment, all the central market stalls will be renovated, as highlighted yesterday by the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for the Tourism, Commerce, Health and Consumer Affairs area, Manuel Padín, in the presentation of their accounts for 2022 accompanied by the delegate mayor Cristina Pérez Carrasco.
Padín stressed that previously, between now and the end of the year, the façades, the installation of an accessible toilet and fiber optics, will be carried out under the 2021 budget, in addition to the basement works.
For the Gisbert street market there is an item of 20,000 euros, although it will be necessary to do more emergency works since, according to reports from municipal technicians, the storms have damaged its facilities.
In addition, by 2022 a 50,000 euro item will be added to the budget for actions in the San Fernando commercial hub. The Commerce budget amounts to 831,969 euros, 7.07% more than this year.
Regarding Health, next year’s accounts reserve 75,000 euros to guarantee compliance with the Animal Welfare Law. This money will allow to start up the office contemplated in the ordinance that will manage all aspects related to the Law. Also, in terms of subsidies, there will be 21,000 euros to attend to agreements with protective groups and associations.
In terms of health, it is committed to the new office in La Azohía and the expansion of the one in Cuesta Blanca with 150,000 euros. While it reserves 160,000 for the subsidiary cleaning of plots. The total amounts to 1,964,068 euros.
On the other hand, the tourism budget rises 6.77%, to 1,206,458 euros. This increase includes 60,000 euros more in tourism promotion, reaching 350,000 euros. On the other hand, the amount of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas remains at 320,000 euros to secure visits.
