Overturn the 0-2 and win for the first time the right to fight for the flag against Conegliano. Race -1 already on Saturday
Novara-Monza 2-3 (26-24, 25-21, 22-25, 23-25, 12-15)
–
With a feat that will remain etched in the minds of volleyball fans for a long time and not just the Monza fans, it is Vero Volley that reaches Conegliano in the last act of the Scudetto playoffs. Under two sets to zero, Gaspari’s team, dragged by Stysiak, overturned the game by winning the tie break. The only novelty at the start is at Monza, where Stysiak starts from the beginning diagonally with Orro, while Novara confirms his “typical” sextet.
Starting Igor
–
The first break is found by Igor, with three great defenses turned into gold by Daalderop and Karakurt and a wall in Washington for the 7-3, on which Gaspari calls time out. Novara plays with personality, well directed by Hancock, who also sets up on his own with two points for 10-7. Monza clings above all to Stysiak (4 points so far), but Karakurt’s difficulties (two errors and a block immediately) reopen the set on 11 all. Lavarini’s time out brings some order back to Novara, with Chirichella immediately finding a new break, managed until 15-13. Washington also makes itself felt with the block on Rattke and Bosetti still finds the point of 18-14 at the net (second time out Gaspari). As in the previous round, it is Orro’s turn to jolt that blows the bank: 6-0 partial for Monza, with two walls by Danesi, and a set overturned in an amen (18-20). The set finale is crazy: Novara returns from 20-22 to 24-23 with Chirichella and Daalderop on fire. Monza cancels two set balls, but on the third Igor is exalted in defense and closes with another blaze of the Dutch, who sets the 26-24. The story of the match and the series does not change in the second set, with the teams going head to head (6-6). The balance is broken by three consecutive points by Karakurt, who pushes Igor to 9-7, but Vero Volley immediately returns with Rattke, who scores with two consecutive aces for 9-10 (time out Lavarini), and extends to the 9-12 with Novara falling into the hole once again. But once again Bosetti and her teammates pull out, overturning the set again with a 5-0 break signed by Karakurt and Washington (14-13). Gaspari recalls Stysiak and inserts Van Hecke, who immediately scores for a tie, but Igor finds another shoulder with Karakurt and Bosetti (monstrous in defense) for 19-15. It is the decisive break, because Novara is no longer distracted and with Daalderop and again the Turkish opposite (8 points in the set) closes 25-21.
The comeback begins
–
Gaspari confirms Van Hecke on the pitch and is still in great equilibrium, with Novara leading and Monza chasing her up to 8 all. It is still Rettke’s turn in batting to cross the reception of the blue, who find themselves under 9-11 and to chase up to 17-20, with the Vero Volley that raises the level of its defense with the inclusion of Negretti in the role of free and finds in Gennari a real driver. The final assault of Novara stops at 21-22, Monza relies on Larson’s experience and reopens the race closing 22-25. The score does not change at the start of the fourth set, still dominated by the balance between two teams that are equal (7-7). The tension grows and the errors also increase, leading to 10 even. The first break of the set is found by Igor, who breaks on 13-11 with a block and defense again to shine. Gaspari raises in ca, then Stysiak and the reaction from Monza is immediate, with the equalizer for 13-14. We go on the roller coaster: Novara climbs 17-16, overturns Monza which extends with Stysiak for 21-24. Igor cancels the first two set balls but on the third it is still Stysiak who decides and brings the match to the tie break. Lavarini plays the Herbots card for Daalderop, Gaspari, of course, confirms Stysiak, who starts like a rocket also in the tie break and together with Gennari signs the first break at 4-6. Novara is not dead and returns to 7 all (Chirichella’s block after two super defenses by Fersino) and counter-passes with Washington, again after extraordinary defenses (10-9). -14: Bosetti cancels the first but on the second it is Stysiak who gives the feat to Monza.
