Gonzalo Montiel is one step away from signing for Sevilla of Spain. River Plate would lose an important piece in Marcelo Gallardo’s scheme. All the details of the negotiation.
The pass market in Europe continues at full and River plate could be a victim of it: Seville of Spain has in mind to pay the 10 million euros of the Gonzalo Montiel clause. In this way, the right back of the Argentine team would leave untimely.
Although he has a contract until December 2022, Rodolfo D’Onofrio promised Montiel to sell him in case any club paid a figure close to his exit clause. Seville would pay it in full, and this would be a reason for acceptance by the River Plate board of directors.
It is not the first time River plate sells a right-back to Sevilla: the previous case was that of Gabriel Mercado, who left Argentina for Andalusia in the European summer of 2016. At that time, Mercado returned from playing the Copa América with the Argentine national team and said goodbye to the millionaire people in an Argentine Cup match where they scored a penalty.
