The Maranhão Health Department confirmed that it is investigating a case of monkeypox, known as monkeypox, in the state. With that, there are already 10 suspected cases across the country in addition to one confirmed, who is in isolation at Emílio Ribas hospital, in São Paulo.
The folder reported that the patient sought treatment at the Bacanga Mixed Unit, in the capital São Luís, last Wednesday (8) after presenting with fever, chills, itchy and burning lesions in the eyes. He has been informed that he has no recent travel history. The patient was transferred to the University Hospital (HUUFMA).

This Saturday (11) the State Health Department of Rio de Janeiro announced that it is investigating a possible case in the state. This afternoon the patient is undergoing tests to confirm or rule out the disease.
The man is 43 years old and works aboard an oil platform. According to the secretary, he has contact with people from other countries. The case was registered in the city of Macaé, in the north of the state.
The country currently has a confirmed case of the disease in São Paulo. According to the Ministry of Health, there are 10 more suspected cases: one in Rio Grande do Sul; two in Santa Catarina, one in Mato Grosso do Sul, two in Rondônia, one in São Paulo, one in Maranhão, one in Ceará and one in Rio de Janeiro.
