Manu Molina is a very important piece in the scheme of UD Ibiza. His participation numbers with the Balearic team say so. He was the undisputed starter with Juan Carlos Carcedo as coach and now he is also with Paco Jemez. The man from Huelva has become a fixture in the midfield of the sky-blue block, taking the position from Javi Lara who started ahead with the arrival of the new coach.
In the first match of the second round, Molina was not even called up. However, it is true that that match, against Fuenlabrada, coincided with a wave of covid cases at the club that affected several footballers. But the entity did not report the names of those affected. On matchday 23, in the second game of the second round against Alcorcón, he was called up and played 26 minutes, but starting from the bench as a substitute.
In the following five games, Molina has been a starter, forming a starting pair in the midfield with Pape Diop mainly, but in the last duel he paired with Javi Pérez. Against Málaga and Real Zaragoza he played the 90 minutes. He was on the pitch for 59 minutes against Almería and 79 against Cartagena. Already against Tenerife he acted the 90 minutes of the match. The Andalusian has played a total of 2,204 minutes with UD Ibiza in LaLiga SmartBank, spread over 27 games (only one of the 28 played to date has been lost).
Molina also has two goal assists, all of them in the second round of the league competition. He has already been suspended for several games, since he has seen four yellow cards. However, at the moment he is being saved from the sanction and this Saturday he will be able to play against Huesca if the Balearic coach considers it necessary. So far, he has become a fixture.
The player suffered at the end of last season from testicular cancer from which he has fully recovered. His role in Ibiza is being fundamental in the first season of the celestial in the silver category of Spanish men’s football.
