WORLD: After a year of pandemic, the ignorance about the coronavirus is amazing.
Wyler: These are things that are tedious and complicated. And the studies can hardly be published in scientific journals. This kind of research would require a government contract and financial security. The only country that does that is the UK.
WORLD: Great Britain did not use the early knowledge of B.1.1.7, the clinics are still hopelessly overcrowded.
Wyler: I think this type of country comparison is counterproductive. One would have to look at what is being done well where and what can be learned from it. The Israelis are vaccinating great, but everything else is a disaster. The British are great at sequencing, but the rest?
WORLD: What are we doing great?
