His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received Sheikh Hasina Wajid, Prime Minister of the friendly People’s Republic of Bangladesh, at the headquarters of “Expo 2020 Dubai”.
His Highness welcomed the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bangladesh, stressing the depth of the relations between the UAE and the Republic of Bangladesh, and the importance of supporting and strengthening them in order to achieve the mutual interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.
The meeting reviewed a number of issues of common concern and the two sides exchanged views on them. The discussion also touched on the importance of developing and upgrading areas of cooperation to achieve mutual benefit and common interests for the two countries, especially in sectors that support sustainable development and contribute to achieving progress and prosperity for the two countries.
For her part, the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh praised the relations of friendship and cooperation between her country and the UAE, expressing her hope to develop them to reach new horizons that contribute, within its broader framework, to expanding the circle of cooperation between the two countries in various fields. She also praised Dubai’s distinguished organization of the current session of the The World Expo, which reflects the ability of Dubai and the UAE to organize and receive major international events with efficiency and competence.
His Highness, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Bangladesh witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation between the UAE and Bangladesh, including: a memorandum of understanding in the field of higher education and scientific research, signed by the Minister of Education, Hussain Al Hammadi, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Abul Kalam Abdul Momen, and another memorandum of understanding for diplomatic training, signed by Minister of State, Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bangladesh, Masoud bin Momin.
The cooperation agreements also included a memorandum of understanding between the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research and the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies, signed by the Director General of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research, Sultan Muhammad Al Nuaimi, and the President of the Bangladesh Institute for International and Strategic Studies, Kazi Imtiaz Hussain. The agreements also included the signing of a memorandum of understanding. Between the Dubai Chamber and the Federation of Bangladeshi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, it was signed by the President of the Dubai International Chamber of Commerce, Sultan bin Sulayem, and the President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Muhammad Jashim Udin.
