His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” met with his brother, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of sisterly Oman, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister and Prime Minister. The Presidential Office, within the framework of His Majesty’s official visit to the country, where the meeting discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them at various levels in a way that supports the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples towards a future called progress and prosperity.
At the beginning of the meeting, which took place at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum welcomed His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and the delegation accompanying His Majesty, stressing that this visit carries great importance in pushing forward cooperation relations, in light of the depth of the fraternal and historical ties that unite them. The two brotherly countries and peoples, as an extension of the established partnership between them, the foundations of which were laid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and Sultan Qaboos bin Said, may God bless them.
During the meeting, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq expressed his aspiration to develop the strategic partnership between the two countries, through closer cooperation, whether at the governmental level or the private sector, to reach higher levels of economic, commercial and cultural exchange paths, which derive their importance and the elements of their prosperity from the depth and solidity of the historical ties that exist. It has always brought the two sides together in a way that keeps pace with the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples towards rising to new leadership levels in the future, serves to strengthen joint Gulf action, and confirms the effectiveness of the influential role of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, whether in their Arab surroundings or on the international arena.
During the meeting, they discussed the continuous progress witnessed by the strategic partnership ties between the two countries, the prospects for joint cooperation and ways to discover more opportunities through which the scope of this cooperation can be expanded within various fields, especially at the economic, trade, investment and tourism levels, in a way that serves the sustainable development goals of the two countries. It was also discussed how to improve cooperation in terms of exchanging experiences in the field of developing government work and preparing human cadres capable of pioneering modernization processes within its various sectors in a way that serves the sustainable development goals of the two countries.
The two sides reviewed the continued development in overall bilateral relations in light of shared visions and the firm conviction of the importance of consolidating the foundations of the strategic partnership between the two countries, confirming the elements of prosperity witnessed by bilateral economic ties, and how to raise the rates of trade and tourism exchange between the two sides, and stimulating greater levels of intra-investment in various industrial fields. And trade, and encourage the private sector in the two countries to extend more bridges of cooperation in order to increase opportunities that benefit the comprehensive development plans in the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman.
During the meeting, a number of topics and issues of common interest were also discussed, most notably the most prominent developments in regional and international situations, the current challenges witnessed by the Middle East region, and ways to overcome them in order to establish peace and spread the elements of security and stability that support development, which is the first and basic pillar of peoples’ prosperity. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Supreme Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, and a number of ministers and senior officials from both sides.
