The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) will carry out, from today (3) to the 21st of this month, a series of auctions for oil and gas, generation and transmission of electricity, with the expectation of raising more than R$206, 9 billion in private investments with the concessions.
There will be three auctions for electricity and one for oil, which should generate 160,000 direct and indirect jobs over the years of contracts.
The A-1 and A-2 Existing Energy auctions take place today, through the Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber (CCEE) virtual platform.
For Auction “A-1”, contracts for Energy Trading in the Regulated Environment will be negotiated in the quantity modality.
For the “A-2” Auction, availability contracts will be negotiated for energy from biomass, national coal, process gas and natural gas thermoelectric plants, and quantity contracts for other sources, according to information of the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel)
The initial prices, defined by the MME, will be R$240 per megawatt-hour (R$/MWh) for the A-1 Auction, in which only plants offering the Quantity Product will participate; and R$ 200/MWh for Quantity and Availability products participating in Auction A-2.
“The whole country gains, with the reduction of energy costs and the generation of jobs and income for thousands of Brazilians”, stated the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque.
Other auctions
The auction of the Sépia and Atapu fields, located in the Santos Basin, in the pre-salt, will take place on December 17 and will have a signature bonus of R$ 11.1 billion, of which R$ 7.7 billion will be transferred to the states and municipalities. The ministry expects it to be the second largest in history and for oil and gas production to increase 12%.
On the same date, the Transmission Auction No. 2/2021 should take place, which provides for the construction and maintenance of 902 kilometers of transmission lines and 750 megavolt-amperes (MVA) in substation transformation capacity.
The investment should be of R$ 2.9 billion, with the creation of 6,600 direct jobs in the states of Amapá, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Paraná and São Paulo.
On the 21st, Auction No. 11/2021-Aneel takes place, known as the 2021 Capacity Reserve Auction, for contracting power and associated electricity from new and existing thermoelectric plants. The start of supply is expected to take place in 2026 or 2027, with contracts expected to last for 15 years.
