Russian President Vladimir Putin reappointed Mikhail Mishustin as head of government on Friday, after weeks of speculation about a possible cabinet reshuffle.
“A lot has been achieved under difficult circumstances and it seems to me that it will be appropriate for us to continue working together,” Putin told Mishustin today.
“I think we are on the right track,” he added.
Russian representatives later agreed to reappoint Mishustin.
Mishustin, who headed the country’s tax authority, was appointed prime minister for the first time in 2020.
Mishustin told Putin, “We will do everything in our power to develop our economy and justify our people’s trust in us. I am confident that, under your leadership, we will accomplish all the tasks that have been set.”
It is expected that the names of ministers will be presented in the coming weeks for the new government formation.
