The Misano World Circuit hosts the Superbike this weekend and, on the occasion of the fourth round of the 2024 season, the renewal between the facility and the championship was announced. The production derivatives will thus return to the Romagna track for another five years. The Misano round is guaranteed until 2029, as a result of the agreement signed with Santa Monica SpA and thus consolidates the relationship that has lasted since 1991, the first year in which the Superbike World Championship landed on the Romagna Riviera.
The Misano Round is one of the most anticipated and appreciated by drivers and enthusiasts, who combine the adrenaline on the track with the relaxation of the beaches and mild temperatures right in the heart of the Italian Motor Valley. Superbike is also considered fundamental from a tourism point of view, with an important economic impact, estimated at over 30 million euros, according to the survey conducted by Trademark Italia. The great spectacle on the track and the presence of Italian brands and drivers who give prestige to the area also contribute.
Gregorio Lavilla, Executive Director of WorldSBK, is enthusiastic about the renewal of the agreement: “We are thrilled to continue our long relationship with the Misano World Circuit. The Emilia-Romagna Round is a key event for WorldSBK, known for its passionate fans and excellent organisation. This extension through 2029 reflects our commitment to bringing world-class racing to this historic venue. We look forward to many more years of exciting racing and memorable moments here at Misano.”
Giovanni Copioli, FMI President, echoes him: “The combination between WorldSBK and MWC is part of the history of this competition, enriched this year with the debut of the world championship for female riders. The IMF applauds this agreement which guarantees a major sporting event for our country and which produces significant effects in fueling the passion for motorsport in the new generations. We have more and more young drivers who are passionate about it and the events generate enthusiasm and build our future.”
Andrea Albani, managing director Misano World Circuit, expresses his satisfaction with the renewal: “Major events like WorldSBK fuel the driving force of interest in motorsport and at the same time the development of a long and complex supply chain, to which we have given more and more value. The opportunities therefore multiply: commercial appointments, tests by manufacturing companies, increase in the business network at MWC Square are the positive and concrete effect, up to the organization of ITS Maker to train quality professionals useful to companies. The renewal until 2029 generates security and therefore optimism among the entrepreneurs of our world”.
