As is happening in the world of Formula 1, MotoGP is also approaching the technical revolution constituted by the use of biofuels. Not surprisingly, starting with the season 2024the new sporting regulations will require participating teams to use at least 40% of renewable fuel, up to the total use envisaged by 2027. Already last year, various teams got to work with their suppliers to be able to make the most of the potential of the bikes in view of the upcoming championships, starting with the Honda.
Last November, the Japanese company had in fact carried out a test a Jarama to test the fuel developed by repsol, with Marc Marquez having expressed positive judgments on the performance of the RC213V-S. In that circumstance, his current teammate was not present on the track Joan Mirwho however reserved comments full of optimism in view of the use of non-fossil fuels.
In his first interview as a Honda rider, the Spaniard also addressed this particular issue: “When I hear the word ‘biofuel’ I think about the present and the future – he has declared – in 2024 it will be a new reality in the World Championship, and I’m happy to know that Repsol Honda is already working to have the best synthetic fuel and make the bike more competitive. I can’t wait to test the biofuel and help the engineers develop it so that it helps us fight for victories and world championships”. In this regard, in mid-2023 Repsol will open its first advanced biofuel processing plant in Spain, in Cartagena.
