Oh, we almost forgot. Traffic fines rise with inflation…
Unfortunately (?) we cannot avoid traffic fines going up even further. This is also related to inflation. We won’t blame anyone, but that war out there in the East is really affecting all of us right now.
Or of course you just stick to all the rules, that’s also a possibility. Because (most of) those rules are not that crazy after all.
Minister Dilan Yesilgöz has sent a letter to the House of Representatives containing a proposal for the following new amounts. That writes the Telegraph just now. Keep in mind that we calculate with an inflation rate of 8.6 percent. Indeed, that is exceptionally high.
A number of common violations will be rewarded with the following fines if the proposal is accepted.
- Driving through a red light: becomes € 280, this is now € 250
- Holding the phone in the car: becomes € 380, this is now € 350
- Holding your phone on the bike: becomes € 150, this is now € 140
The Ministry of Security and Justice tells De Telegraaf that they themselves do not consider it unjust that the fines are rising, while the cost of living is already so high.
Yes, indeed the clincher: “if you just don’t break the rules, it doesn’t cost anything” was pulled out of the closet.
On the other hand: If you commit one of the three common violations mentioned above, you will also earn a grab from your household money through the CJIB. We personally think so.
