Millonarios was left in intensive care: he could barely draw against Bucaramanga

Alberto Gamero surprised with a strange formation. Apart from the large number of absences due to injury, the coach left Andrés Llinás, one of the players with the most minutes in the semester in Millonarios, on the bench in a line of three defenders (Moreno Paz, Vargas and Arias) and two wingers (Delvin Alfonzo and Danovis Banguero).

In front of them, the coach put three defensive players, leaving Mackalister Silva and Juan Esteban Carvajal alone up front. What was the idea? Prevent them from scoring a goal and surprise on the wings with the departure of the wingers.

The task came out halfway for Millos, who did not achieve much (again, Silva had a one-on-one with goalkeeper Aldair Quintana, who resolved the latter very well), and Larry Vásquez missed a very clear shot by finishing badly.

Behind them was a gap on the left that Bucaramanga did not know how to take advantage of.
Banguero, once again, found himself far from the football he showed in Tolima or in Nacional. And his mistake could have cost Millonarios dearly, when the first half was ending and Gamero already had the score at 0-0 in the dressing room.

Millos’ left-back did not reach a close and when Aldaír Gutiérrez left him, he managed to brush him on the edge of the area. It didn’t seem like a foul, but judge Diego Ulloa gave a penalty. The VAR provided an intermediate solution: yes it was a foul, but outside. The free kick had no consequences.

The game was quite, quite weak. Millonarios tried to move one more piece forward and Gamero sent Daniel Ruiz instead of Larry Vásquez, and then Llinás ended up on the court after injury number 28 of the year: the victim, Alex Moreno Paz. Then, the defender saw a yellow card that took him out of Saturday’s game in Pereira.

On the Bucaramanga side, Rafael Dudamel also wanted to add another bit of attack, with Aldair Zárate instead of Leonardo Flores, and refreshed the attack with Jhon Córdoba instead of Joider Micolta, who could not shine as in Bogotá and who even He lost the clearest option of the match: under the goal and with Montero defeated, he threw it over the top.

The tie was no business for Millonarios and Gamero gave up two more changes: the third “moment” was used to take out Carvajal, to whom the ball reached very little, and put in Emerson Rodríguez, who, at least, had a shot a goal that was the clearest thing for the blues in the second stage, plus another that Quintana took from Silva with a header.
