The 41 municipalities with less than 50,000 inhabitants will receive 15.2 million for the improvement of lighting, parks and cultural facilities

The Governing Council yesterday gave its approval to the Cooperation Plan for Municipal Works and Services 2022-2023, which includes the granting of subsidies to the 41 municipalities with less than 50,000 inhabitants for the execution of the works and services included in a plan comprising a total of 109 performances.
With an investment of 15.2 million euros, the municipalities will be able to carry out the projects they have proposed regarding public lighting, public parks, cultural and sports facilities, health facilities, multipurpose buildings, security in public places, waste collection , unclassified works and historical heritage. The Community finances 11,994,769 euros and the municipalities contribute the remaining 3,239,117 euros. The purpose of the plan focuses on reducing deficits in infrastructure and equipment.

Emergencies:
Subsidy to the 27 municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants to finance the fees for the Fire Fighting and Rescue Consortium. The initiative involves the financing of one hundred percent of the municipal contributions corresponding to the 2022 financial year of municipalities with up to 5,000 inhabitants and the second semester in the case of towns with between 5,001 and 20,000 inhabitants.
Environment:
4.3 million to finance and execute the storm tank at the Las Torres de Cotillas treatment plant. The infrastructure will allow the first water to be collected in rainy episodes, the most polluted, preventing the flow of mixed water, a mixture of sewage and rainwater, from exceeding the station’s maximum treatment capacity.
Economic boost:
230,000 euros for the development of actions in favor of the business fabric of the Region. They are subsidies for employers for the development during 2022 of corporate activities and services that these organizations carry out in favor of the business fabric.
Research and universities.
Authorization to the Seneca Foundation of the expenditure of 648,073 euros for the call for newly awarded grants for the training of research personnel in universities and public research organizations in the Region of Murcia in the academic fields and those of interest to industry, as well as for the renewal of aid of this type still in force granted in previous years.
Strategic alliance:
More than 460,000 euros to consolidate and promote the internationalization of the Mare Nostrum Campus of Excellence. The purpose of the subsidy is the collaboration of the Community in the consolidation of this joint ‘brand’ of the two public universities to strengthen their strategic alliance.
Organization of the Ebau:
155,000 euros to collaborate with public universities in the financing of Ebau 2022. An amount of 134,995 euros is allocated to the University of Murcia (UMU) for the organization and development of the test, and to the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), 20,695.

Agreement with UCAM:
Approved an agreement with the Catholic University (UCAM) to streamline and optimize the management of European funds. The agreement, which does not imply an economic cost for any of the parties, regulates the collaboration between the Coordination Unit of the European Recovery Instrument of the Ministry of Finance, called the Next Office, and a similar body created by the university entity (‘Next Office’). People with disabilities:
The Governing Council has authorized four agreements with individual federations of associations of people with disabilities and deaf people that establish subsidies for a global amount of 1,388,481 euros, with a contribution from the IMAS of 1,063,103 euros.
Gender violence:
Almost 600,000 euros for projects that combat gender violence and help victims. Among other projects, programs will be developed to welcome and support women in situations of violence, job reintegration for women at risk of exclusion, emotional health, treatment and prevention of gender-based violence in prisons, or care for women victims of trafficking, among others.
75,000 euros for the five veteran music festivals
The Governing Council yesterday gave the green light to grants for a total amount of 75,000 euros for five festivals that are uniquely outstanding for their cultural presence in the Region of Murcia for decades.
The five festivals will receive a grant of 15,000 euros each. These are La Mar de Músicas and Cartagena Jazz Festival, organized by the Cartagena City Council; the International Theater, Music and Dance Festival and the International Jazz Festival, promoted by the San Javier City Council; and the Lo Ferro International Festival of Cante Flamenco, whose subsidy will be received by the Asociación Peña Flamenca Melón de Oro.
Support for this sector has already been expressed through specific calls addressed to professionals, associations and foundations of the different artistic disciplines.
With this agreement, the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts (ICA) intends to go a step further with this award of direct subsidies and collaborate with the promoters of an exclusive and singular format in the promotion of cultural industries, as is the case of the singularly outstanding and recognized cultural festivals. These grants are complemented by aid from the regional government to the brand ‘Festivals Region of Murcia. More music’.
