The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, has decided on Wednesday prohibit treatments and surgeries for sex change in minorsjust four days after a massive demonstration in protest of the president’s statements against the LGBTQ community.
Milei has claimed that «the gender ideology taken to the extreme and applied in children by force or psychological coercion constitutes smoothly and plain Child abuse». In this sense, he has emphasized that «children do not have the cognitive maturity necessary to make decisions about irreversible processes that in many cases imply the mutilation of healthy organs, and that are feasible to cause infertility, cardiovascular problems, and catastrophic consequences in mental health ».
The announcement, in line with similar decisions of his American counterpart, Donald Trump, has been made through a statement from the Argentine presidency in which he stressed that his cabinet seeks “Finish privileges and promote equality before the law”as well as “put an end to child abuse on a gender agenda and end the revived of criminals.”
In this sense, he has reported that «It will decree that the accommodation of the prison detainees will be determined according to the sex recorded at the time of the criminal act, to prevent anyone from using the gender change excuse to ask for a transfer from the jail in which it is located ».
«No man who has requested the rectification of his kind before committing a crime may be housed in women’s prisons if he was convicted of sexual crimes, human people or violent crimes against women, nor in case the penitentiary evaluation determines it, ”he added.
This announcement took place after Buenos Aires announced the next exit of the country from the World Health Organization (WHO) by the “deep discrepancies” around the management of the Covid-19 pandemic and for the sake of the « Sovereignty »national on health issues, also following the line marked by Trump in the United States.
