The slow motion of Salernitana-Naples and Rome-Milan
SALERNITANA-NAPLES (Blacksmiths)
–
Two key episodes in the race. At 70 ‘, with Napoli already in the lead, Kastanos gets in badly on Anguissa. The referee pulls out the yellow card, but Var Banti rightly invites him to review the foul on the monitor: the intervention is from red, because the Salernitana midfielder goes with his leg extended and the cleats forward on the upper part of the ankle of the median light blue. Fabbri corrects himself after the on field review and the hosts remain in ten men. In the 77th minute, however, the numbers are equalized, because the whistle of Ravenna expels Koulibaly for having prevented a clear scoring opportunity for Simy on the pass of Ribery. Little to discuss about the whistle (the Senegalese pulls by the shirt), a little more about the color of the card: could Simy gain possession of the ball without Koulibaly’s foul? Maybe yes maybe no. And for this the Var keeps the decision of the referee on the field.
ROME-MILAN (MARESCA)
–
The highlight is the contact in the area between Ibanez and Ibrahimovic which gives rise to the 2-0 penalty in the 7th st: the Roma defender collides with the Swede, the match is there and only after the Roma player manages to touch the ball initially moved by Ibra. The evaluation must be made by Maresca, therefore by the field: the Var intervenes despite the fact that there is no “clear and evident error” and therefore Maresca confirms the feeling from the field. The doubt remains about the contact in the Kjaer-Pellegrini area in which the AC Milan player touches the leg of the Giallorossi, an episode that resembles that of Dumfries-Alex Sandro. Maresca does not whistle. But the referee makes an obvious mistake when the second yellow for Theo Hernandez is triggered: the referee does not blow the whistle the obvious foul on Krunic (by Felix) which causes Pellegrini to restart. In practice, there would have been no yellow card for the AC Milan player if the “blow” to Krunic had been sanctioned first. In the rest, too many yellow cards (9), evidence of a race that at one point got out of hand clearly. The two goals canceled (to Leao and Ibrahimovic) were found by the Var: double offside.
